Canadian Tire Living and Final Push to U.S. Thanksgiving

Anyone in the retail construction business knows that it is all about U.S. Thanksgiving in terms of the finality of the new store construction and renovation period. Typically, if it’s not finished and operational by this time, it’s moving to next year’s budget. So, there is typically a mad rush leading up to this magic date and this year has been no exception.

We are proud to have been selected by Canadian Tire to help them out with their new “Living” strategy. The “around the house” area of the store that provides such items as storage solutions, appliances large and small and housewares. The exciting new and stylish look is a collaborative effort between the CTC design staff and the CBSF team of designers and engineers. Currently, there are two stores complete in Ontario being Cambridge and Bowmanville. Get out there check them out and spend some money. The majority of the test program was executed in the Winnipeg market where we completed eight stores.

In consideration of the size of the test program along with the aggressive timelines, CTC chose to take advantage of our full service offering of design/engineering through manufacturing and finally installation and merchandising. In the Winnipeg market, we deployed over 60 personnel in 8 locations in order to shore up Canadian Tire’s own resources and provide our installation and merchandising expertise in order to push the project through to completion. A tremendous success on all fronts.

The Leafs are back in action and looking like it may be for real this time! …… Do you hear the crickets? No, but really, they really are. Time will tell, but if they keep this up, it could get serious around the blue and white world. Go Kessel!!!!

The Bears are also turning it back around after a short blip in the winning streak. Smooth sailing from here on out.

I was humbled by a request from one of our team members daughters for an interview for a paper for school. She is taking a course on leadership and had to interview a leader. The questions were great and certainly caused me to reflect on what it was all about. A little reminder is good from time to time.  I was again reminded that the most important element is to create and support a culture and environment of trust and friendship. A place where people are going to enjoy spending their day (and sometimes night) and will bring their positive energy to each other and to our clients and hopefully enhance their lives. If we’re doing that and we can make a little money at the same time than our lives will be enriched.

Anyway, she was impressed so I guess that’s good that someone is. Thanks Ash.
